The Old West Players

On March 3rd and 4th, step back in time and hang out with the Old West Players. They are an old west reenactment group based in southern Indiana. Most of their members are experienced reenactors, Cowboy Action Shooters and living historians. Their shows are true to the cowboy era of the 1860′s-1880′s western U.S. They strive to be as authentic as can be in their dress, weapons, tack, accouterments and mannerisms. So come to the 2012 National Maple Syrup Festival and relive the old west!

Old McMaple’s Petting Zoo

What’s a visit to the farm without the animals? We wouldn’t know…

Kids can pet a variety of animals and even ride a miniature pony.

Children’s Activity Area

Kids can take a break from the festival in the Children’s Activity Area. Children can try their skills weaving their own pot holder, assist Cowboy Ron during his rope making demonstration, color their favorite festival picture, or try their skill on making their very own candle.  After getting their face painted, children may choose to explore the woods and enjoy a scavenger hunt. Please continue to check back with us for more new updates for the 2012 NMSF Children’s Activity Area!

Horse Drawn Wagon Rides

See fresh tapped maple trees and sip on hot apple cider while on a horse drawn ride your family will reflect on for years to come.

Face Painting

Always a childhood favorite, face painting offers a charming remembrance of the weekend’s activities.

Paul Bunyan & Old Blue Lumberjack Activities

Memories are sure to be made while helping Paul Bunyon and Ole Blue collect sugar sap around the farm. Families can experience what it was like to collect sap prior to modern conveniences of today. If that’s not enough BIG Paul will help you hone your skills on his buck saw challenge. Take home your very own Bunyon branded Maplewood round.

Pioneer Games

Children in the past could entertain themselves with homemade games made of common items such as sacks, hoops, sticks, and buttons. Come explore these old fashioned games and have the opportunity to take one home with you.
